Allied Restoration & Caulking
The Carnegie Building in Akron, Ohio:
We installed vents to allow airflow between the brick verneer. This is to keep the wall from freezing by allowing the moisture to escape, and also helps to keep the wall from deterioating.
We have recently finished rebuilding an elevator shaft on this beautiful historic sand-stone building, The Carnegie Building, in Akron, Ohio.
The drain was installed for a similar purpose and it allows a path for moisture to escape between the verneer and the interior wall which prevents deterioation from freeze/thaw cycles. Freeze/Thaw cycles happens to be a very large part of structual building problems in Ohio.
Both the vents, and drains also prevent stains and fungal growth by successfully allowing the moisture to escape.
